Poster Presentation:Nursing Implications of Robotic Surgery in Neuro Interventional Radiology |

Sunday, June 12, 2022 2:30pm - 3:30pm ET This poster session will serve to educate nurses on the upcoming use of robotic surgery in neuro interventional radiology, including the types of procedures, pre-and-post procedural set up and care, and the expanded roles that robotic surgery could hold for advanced practice nurses in the future. This session will discuss the hardware and set-up process for robotic cassettes, show illustrations and diagrams of the procedures, and describe the technical skills which a procedural RN will need to know to participate in these cases. Also included will be a longer discussion about changes to access of care and health equity implications for the expansion of robotic surgery. |

Elicia Fox Chaney has worked in Interventional Radiology for 6 years, and has been a nurse practitioner in the department of Neuro Interventional Radiology at UCSF since 2017. During this time, she has focused on patient-centered education and developed teaching materials for UCSF graduate students in both the school of medicine and nursing. Her special focus is in expanding the role of the nurse practitioner into the procedural realm in Neuro IR and she has established a strong independent practice in the spine injection clinic as well as the role of the NP procedural first assist. |
