This session will discuss a process improvement project performed at the Massachusetts General Hospital Interventional Radiology Department that focused on preprocedure anticoagulation medication management. The importance of care coordination in Interventional Radiology setting, the specific steps taken to prepare and roll out this project among a multidisciplinary team, how we empowered staff to participate and discuss how we are sustaining this project will be reviewed.

Danielle is a nurse manager in Radiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, where she manages over 60 registered nurses throughout the Department of Radiology. She ensures a practice environment that maintains high professional standards of clinical care and conduct, including patient-focused care, satisfaction, safety, and staff development. She also manages patient flow, operating efficiencies, payroll, budget, work schedules, and assignments for nursing staff in the Department of Radiology. Danielle received her BSN from Saint Joseph’s College in Windham, Maine, her MSN from Salem State University, in Salem, Massachusetts focusing on Nursing Education, and her DNP from the MGH Institute of Health Professionals in Charlestown, MA. Danielle has worked in various clinical settings, including Cardiac ICU, Cardiac Operating Room, and Cardiac and Medical-Surgical Units. She found her love of teaching students while mentoring senior nursing students and became a clinical nursing instructor for various schools. Once she obtained her MSN, she worked as a Nursing Education Coordinator for the Quality Department at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH but missed her MGH roots and returned to MGH in 2014 in her current position. Danielle has received multiple Partners in Excellence awards from MGH and was given the Excellence in Quality Award at Parkland Medical Center. She also published an article entitled Exploring Male Students’ Educational Experiences in an Associate Degree Nursing Program in the Journal of Nursing Education. Danielle’s current areas of interest are operational efficiencies, patient flow, and improving throughput in procedural areas
