G,GJ Buttons, NJ and More Tubes: Updates in Pediatric Interventional Radiology

The placement of a gastrostomy tube is one of the most commonly performed procedures in children, and many of these procedures are performed in Interventional Radiology. Patients with neurodevelopmental delay, gastroesophageal reflux disease or other cases of failure to thrive are often candidates for tube placement of gastrostomy tubes, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tubes, gastrojejunal tubes, nasojejunal tubes and others. Advances in techniques have occurred which are less invasive and result in more rapid initiation of enteral feedings. This presentation will highlight the variety of tubes, patient selection criteria,  complications and management of these tubes.

Lorie Reilly has been a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (Clinical Leader- Master designation) in Sedation/Radiology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for the past 22 years.  She is a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Radiology Nursing, editor of the Just Pediatrics Column, Assistant Lead Nurse Planner for the Directed Journal Reading Program for the journal.  She has presented webinars and podium presentations for ARIN on topics related to Pediatric Radiology.  She is also an Advanced Senior Lecturer at University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing for the Pediatric Acute care Nurse Practitioner Program. 

Cindy Cacciola has 34 years of nursing experience including 25 years in Radiology.  She is currently the Clinical Nurse Supervisor in Interventional Radiology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and manages operations of a Department that performs approximately 5000 procedures per year.
