After a very productive training meeting at NALA in October, President Cheryl Jaglowski-Ho and I had the opportunity to return to Louisville for the annual NOA (Nursing Organizations Alliance) Fall Summit. This meeting affords the association leadership the venue to learn from leaders in the industry, as well as from each other on topics relevant to nurses in all specialties.
The meeting with an outstanding talk by Alice Benjamin, MSN.RN, ACNS-BC on “The Nurses Growing Role in Media” where she encouraged all nurses to stand up and use their voice to better educate the populace on the role of nurses in the industry as well as in being the experts on those healthcare issues facing the nation. “Nurse Alice, America’s Favorite Nurse” encouraged the audience to look for opportunities to use media as a form of advocacy.
Over the next few days, attendees were given time to meet with their fellow leaders, speak with a host of vendors representing potential host cities and products to enhance the convention experience when members attend their respective conferences.
We now look forward to putting into practice the principles heard this week to help improve ARIN and make it the best we can. We can also look forward to next year in Cleveland and renewing friendships made or continued this year.
